News from St Mary the Virgin, Kenton for Christmas 2021
The anticipation is over and the celebration of Our Lord's birth begins. The Good News in the Gospel according to Luke that we will hear on Christmas Day says everything we need to hear: “So Joseph set out from the town of Nazareth in Galilee and travelled up to Judaea, to the town of David called Bethlehem, since he was of David's House and line, in order to be registered together with Mary, his betrothed, who was with child. While they were there the time came for her to have her child, and she gave birth to a son, her first-born. She wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger because there was no room for them at the inn.“
The First Mass of Christmas takes place on Christmas Eve, Friday 24th December at 6.00pm. Mass on Christmas Day, The Nativity of The Lord, is at 10.30am. Don't forget that there is also Mass at 10.30am on Sunday, 26th December which is The Feast of the Holy Family, Jesus, Mary and Joseph.
May we wish you and your family and friends a safe, healthy and holy Christmas. And let us leave the last words of this Christmas message to the heavenly host of angels:
“Glory to God in the highest heaven,
and peace to men who enjoy his favour.“
