As the government updates its advice in relation to COVID-19 we continue to monitor the situation and this page will be updated with news in relation to St. Mary’s.
St. Mary’s now closed to the public
The Bishop of London has ordered the closure of all Church of England church buildings to the public as of the evening of Sunday 22nd March (Mothering Sunday).
Our prayer will continue through the routine of daily morning prayer, mass and evening prayer – which you can follow remotely using our live church webcam.
We will be in touch with the most vulnerable in our congregation in the coming hours and days. We’re also preparing a physical package of prayers, rosary and letters to come out to you this week.
Our new daily pattern of worship and prayer can be found in our calendar – which we will continue to ensure is up to date day-by-day.
Keeping up to date
The situation is changing day-by-day so it’s important that you check this page regularly – you may also want to join our WhatsApp Group – or follow our Facebook Page or Twitter – we will publish information on each of these channels as things change. You may also wish to sign up for email updates.
We will also ensure that our Calendar is fully up to date with what services are happening and which have been cancelled / postponed.
If you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to give one of us a call or email.
The Society of Mary has produced a wonderful booklet you can download called Praying at Home with The Blessed Virgin Mary. It’s a beautiful ecollection of prayers and reflections from the Priests and Chaplains of The Society of Mary for use during May – Mary’s Month.
Church Union and The Society have been producing resources for praying at home over the last few weeks and continue to add to them. Do visit their page regularly where you can download helpful prayer guides, booklets and other resources to help in this time of exile.
Cancelled or Postponed
We have taken the decision that the planned trip to the National Pilgrimage in Walsingham (25th May) should be postponed for the moment. If you have already paid a deposit we will be working to return these over the next couple of weeks.
Thursday Mass at the Chapel of St. Margaret
Over lent we have been visiting Margaret at her house on Thursdays to celebrate mass with her. Given then current situation we feel that this will need to stop for the moment. Mass will be said in church on Thursdays after Morning Prayer.
Tuesday evening – Rosary, Evening Prayer, Adoration, Mass & Bread of Life
The Bread of Life course after mass on a Tuesday has been postponed to the summer.
Confessions will now be by appointment only. Please do contact us to arrange.
We are here for you in whatever way you need us. Fr. Edward & Fr. Matthew are available 24/7 on the phone or email. We will continue to pray for each and every one of you in general, and if you have a particular request please make it on the Prayer Request page.
Lord Jesus Christ,
you taught us to love our neighbour,
and to care for those in need
as if we were caring for you.
In this time of anxiety, give us strength
to comfort the fearful, to tend the sick,
and to assure the isolated
of our love, and your love,
for your name’s sake.
